Berry to speak on maintaining healthy retail business

Albuquerque Mayor Richard J. Berry, as part of a panel discussion, will address challenges associated with retail vacancies and how to boost occupancy and tax revenues.

Albuquerque Mayor Richard J. Berry is scheduled to speak about retail issues at the International Council of Shopping Centers Idea Exchange in Phoenix Feb. 21.

Berry, as part of a panel discussion, will address challenges associated with retail vacancies and how to boost occupancy and tax revenues. The conference will be attended by retail industry professionals throughout the Southwest, including shopping center owners, retailers, managers, municipality officials and brokers.

Also scheduled to be on the panel with Berry is Mary Anne Keshen, a retail investor and developer and owner and cofounder of Tallen & Keshen Holdings LLC.

Organizers of the ICSC conference said Berry is also scheduled to make opening remarks at the conference luncheon. Berry, who on Feb. 16 announced his intention to run for re-election, runs a family construction business.

The ICSC was founded in 1957 as a global trade association of the shopping center industry. It has about 60,000 members in more than 90 countries that include shopping center owners, developers, managers, marketing specialists, investors, retailers and brokers, as well as academics and public officials.
